The crane index has cranked up three places at the Gold Coast’s southern end this year thanks to development projects rolling out at Gold Coast Airport. Two nine-tonne tower cranes have been installed by leading construction company Lendlease over the past two weekends, as foundation works near completion and preparation for the next phase of construction gets underway.

From March 2020, Air New Zealand’s schedule between the Gold Coast and Auckland will increase to daily, and up to nine services per week during peak school holiday periods in April, July and October. The change equates to almost 100 additional flights, or an approximately 15 per cent increase in capacity compared to last year.

Queensland X-Ray has taken out a long-term lease in part of the newly refurbished Airport Central building fronting the Gold Coast Highway and Terminal Drive, officially opening the practice on July 31.
