Keto pods and gluten-free vegan wraps are flying off the shelves of Gold Coast Airport food outlets, as more passengers opt for healthier dining options.
Passenger demand has seen dining outlets at Gold Coast Airport innovate and introduce a wide selection of gluten-free and low gluten meal options.
Health food outlet NRG Express has gone so far as to dedicate almost its entire range to gluten-free and low-gluten products, much to the delight of customers.
Other outlets have reported a similar change in customer requests, including Blackstone Café and Bar, where chefs are on hand to accommodate and respond to most dietary requirements or menu alterations.
Coffee & Co, Velocity Espresso and Bar and Zoom Café, are also offering low gluten and healthy food options.
Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said expanded dining options for passengers had become an increasing focus for terminal outlets.
“Just like across all areas of the hospitality industry, diners are more conscious of what they are putting into their mouths – and our passengers are no different,” she said.
“Our retail partners are doing everything they can to respond to the many and varied dietary requirements of our customers.
“Today, you can get everything from specially prepared Keto pods to gluten-free croissants and bagels, to freshly made gluten free calamari, stuffed mushrooms and super-charged energy balls – we even offer gluten-free vodka in our fully serviced bar at Blackstone Café and Bar.”
Gold Coast Airport took out the Best Regional Airport in the Asia Pacific region for the fourth time in nine years at the recent Skytrax World Airport Awards in London (March 2019) and also won the Best Service Staff in the Australia Pacific region at the awards, which are based on 13.5 million passenger surveys conducted at more than 550 airports globally.
