SECURITY

After checking in, please proceed through the central security screening point. Everyone is welcome through the domestic security area, so if you have a friend or loved one meeting you at the airport or sending you off, why not enjoy a beverage and a meal together in the departure lounge?

Unfortunately, no visitors can proceed through International security to meet arriving or departing International passengers without a valid International ticket.

FINDING YOUR GATE

Gold Coast Airport does things a little differently. Your boarding gate number will only be displayed 40 minutes before your flight. We encourage passengers to remain in the International or Domestic Departures Area until your boarding gate number is displayed on the screens throughout the terminal. Once your boarding gate number is displayed on the FIDS, get your belongings together and prepare yourself to board. When boarding commences please proceed to your gate.

International customers are welcome to relax in the domestic departure lounge until the FIDS display the message ‘Please proceed to international’ then customers are required to make their way through international screening and into the international departure lounge. Boarding gate numbers will be displayed one hour before boarding. Once your boarding gate number is displayed, get your belongings together and prepare yourself to board. When boarding commences please proceed to your gate.

TRAVELLING INTERNATIONALLY

If you’re travelling internationally, after enjoying a browse through the shops, it is time to head through international security and continue on through Customs. When checking in for international departures you are required to have the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Travel documents, such as tickets or booking reference number

Once you have passed Customs and Border Protection you can enjoy some last minute shopping in the Heinemann Duty Free Store and WHSmith or enjoy some fine dining at Wollumbin Café & Bar.

RE-CHECKING IN FOR ANOTHER FLIGHT?

After arriving at Gold Coast Airport, please collect your luggage and clear Customs and Border Protection (if arriving internationally) prior to your next flight. Once you have all your items, proceed to the check in area. Once you have checked in, head through security. If you are travelling internationally, please make sure you leave enough time to clear the international security point.

If you have significant time in between flights, why not utilise the lockers near the short term car park at the front of the terminal to store your luggage and enjoy the Gold Coast? Gold Coast Airport is located within walking distance to Kirra Beach and a three minute taxi or Surfside Bus (link to Transport page) to Coolangatta. Take the time exploring the local alfresco restaurants, boutique shops, cafes and beaches or go for a swim!
