The next phase of Gold Coast Airport’s new terminal expansion has officially opened, with international passengers welcomed today, completing the three-year project.

Gold Coast Airport is ready to welcome the rest of Australia and the world when its $260 million terminal expansion opens to travellers from the first week of September, revealing an unrivalledspace that reflects the famous region’s unique culture and landscape.

Gold Coast Airport is calling on volunteers from the Gold Coast and northern NSW to sign up for the new terminal expansion mass trial event in late August – with those interested encouraged to do so quickly.

The first new international service – Virgin Australia’s Gold Coast-Bali service – to connect with the Gold Coast Airport terminal expansion has been announced.

Gold Coast Airport passengers will be spoilt for choice when looking for something to eat, drink and buy thanks to the transformation of the food, beverage and retail outlets in the expanded and existing terminal.

As many Australians prepare to restart their travel plans, construction of the Gold Coast Airport terminal expansion continues to move ahead – and when it opens in 2022 it will transform the customer experience.The fresh, modern three-level 30,000sq m terminal expansion, which will double the floor size of the existing terminal, includes four glass aerobridges, additional retail space and a large departure lounge.

Foundation works for the southern terminal expansion will begin this week, representing the next exciting step in the delivery of the Gold Coast Airport redevelopment.

The landmark project will double the footprint of the existing terminal, delivering aerobridges, additional retail space and new departure lounge, baggage handling and border control facilities.

Another step in the expansion of Gold Coast Airport has been taken, with the successful installation of a giant new stormwater unit – the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
