Direct services from Malaysia have returned to Gold Coast Airport, with the touch down of AirAsia X this morning arriving direct from Kuala Lumpur for the first time in three years.

A new international connection will soon take flightat Gold Coast Airport, with Virgin Australia’s inaugural Gold Coast to Bali service departing this evening.

To celebrate the launch of the new route, passengers onboard the first flight were treated to a pre-flight ‘stretch and sip’ playfully combining two things Bali are famous for – Bintang and yoga.

Gold Coast Airport has recorded its busiest February since pre-covid with more than 429,000 passengers travelling through the terminal last month. The latest figures show passenger numbers have jumped by more than 45 per cent when compared tothis time last year.

Gold Coast Airport has been named the Best Regional Airport in Australia and Pacific for the fifth time at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in Amsterdam overnight. The awards, referred to as the ‘Oscars of the airport industry’ are based on customer feedback from more than 13 million airport questionnaires conducted across 550 airports internationally and are regarded as a quality benchmark for the world airport industry.

Gold Coast Airport is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day by giving local groups a chance to sharein $50,000 of grants, with the launch of Queensland Airports Limited’s 2023 Community Benefit Fund.

Gold Coast Airport has marked its busiest summer holiday period in three years, topping off a momentous year with more than 5.7 million passengers travelling through the terminal during 2022.

Queensland Airports Limited welcomes the news that Air New Zealand will be adding two additional flights on its Auckland to Gold Coast route, providing an extra 27,400 seats between the two cities from March 2023. These additional services build on Air New Zealand’s current daily flight schedule between Auckland and the Gold Coast, taking the total to nine services per week between March and October 2023.

Gold Coast Airport is expecting its busiest festive season in three years, with up to 925,000 passengers expected through the terminal across the 6-week holiday period.

Queensland Airports Limited is excited to announce, after more than two and a half years, AirAsia X is returning to its first ever route between Kuala Lumpur and the Gold Coast, operating three return services a week, with the first flight to touch down at Gold Coast Airport on 16 February next year.

The next phase of Gold Coast Airport’s new terminal expansion has officially opened, with international passengers welcomed today, completing the three-year project.
