Gold Coast Airport Celebrates Car Park Opening
Gold Coast Airport has today celebrated the opening of the much-anticipated open-air long-term car park. The new car park is a direct result of a steady increase in passenger numbers in recent years, due to significant increases in both domestic and international services now offered from Gold Coast Airport.

Queensland Airports Limited – Record Passenger Movements For Fy2009/2010
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa had almost 7 million passenger movements for the 2009/10 financial year. This is an increase of 9.7% over the previous year. In a difficult period, all three airports experienced year on year growth. Mount Isa and Townsville recorded growth of 1.2% and 3.8% respectively whilst Gold Coast experienced a strong 12% increase. With an international throughput for the year in excess of 755,000 Gold Coast cemented its position as the fifth busiest international airport in Australia. With a total of 5,170,019 domestic and international passengers it is the country’s sixth busiest airport overall. Growth in international passenger movements was 47.8%.

Gold Coast Airport Unveils New Recycling Program
Gold Coast Airport has today unveiled a new recycling program within the terminal, aimed at encouraging proactive recycling behavior in passengers. The new program is a combined initiative of Gold Coast Airport and the Packaging and Stewardship Forum (PSF) – part of the Australian Food and Grocery Council, who are partnering with major Australian airports to provide financial and mentoring support to enable suitable planning, bin infrastructure, installation and education for the long-term, successful recovery of recycled goods.

Queensland Airports Limited Passenger Movements – April 2010
The three airports owned and operated by Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) at Gold Coast, Townsville and Mount Isa recorded almost 600,000 passenger movements collectively for the month of April, an increase of 10% compared to April 2009. Gold Coast Airport continues to record strong growth in both domestic and international travel, up 10% and 27% respectively on the same time last year. More than 448,000 passengers traveled through Gold Coast Airport last month.

Federal Minister Approves Airport Environment Strategy
The Draft Airport Environment Strategy (AES) for Gold Coast Airport has been approved by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Honorable Anthony Albanese MP. Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Paul Donovan welcomed Minister Albanese’s decision and said it was an endorsement of Gold Coast Airport’s long-standing commitment to the airport environment.
